Literacy Partners provides life-changing opportunities for many people who are on society’s margins. For most, their programs are their last and only opportunity to gain the basic skills that are essential for survival in the 21st Century.
Literacy Partners stands for everyone’s right to read and succeed. They offer classes to teach adults the basic literacy skills essential to a full life as individuals, parents and citizens. Literacy Partners teach thousands of the 3.5 million adults who are functionally illiterate in New York City to learn to read. They help to ameliorate key social problems including, poverty, crime, poor parenting, welfare dependency, health and financial illiteracy. Through participation in their programs, adults become capable, committed, and able to enter the mainstream of society. Committed students see tangible differences in the quality of their life and the lives of their children.
Literacy Partners commissioned Bright Launch in 2007 to extend their redesigned organizational identity to the web – starting from just the logo artwork. In addition to the website redesign, Bright Launch migrated Literacy Partners’ site to a content-management-system (CMS), which allows multiple contributors and administrators to collaborate across the organization.
As part of the website rollout, Bright Launch also implemented a bulletin board system for the members of the board. This feature is intended to enhance communication between regular board meetings, and provide a secure venue.
