More About The Client
Adina Kalish Neufeld is an author/lecturer who writes and speaks about consumer oriented survival issues for 20- and 30-somethings. Her freelance articles have appeared in The New York Times, USA Today, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Glamour, Vodka and Mademoiselle magazines, in addition to numerous Web sites. She maintains an active speaking schedule, presenting her real world survival skills seminar to students at colleges and universities nationwide. Her first book, Goin’ Solo…at 20 and 30, the girl’s guide to starting life on her own in a place she can’t afford, was published in 2004.

Adina’s second book, Making It In the City started out as chicken scratch written on the back of receipts while riding the subway in New York City. Frustrated by high-priced apartments, artists who hated their day jobs and rejection letters galore, a concept of ‘happily surviving’ was born. Just because a girl doesn’t have a trust fund doesn’t mean she can’t enjoy the most expensive city in the world — it just means she’s got to be a little more creative in her approach to tackling life on her own.

Design Overview
When Adina approached Bright Launch, she had a very clear idea what she needed: [1] a brochure-style website featuring her book, lecture schedule, biography and contact information, along with [2] a bulletin-board-style forum for 20/30-somethings to share their advice on housing, job leads, dating and more in cities such as Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, New York and Washington, D.C.

In consultation with Adina, our designers rapidly established a layout, chose a suitable color palette and selected an open-source software solution for the bulletin board that didn’t cost Adina a dime. In addition, Bright Launch provided great advice on a affordable and reliable hosting service, and took the lead in migrating the existing content from the previous website.
